Rally For The Great Park!
🌳 Join the Rally for Santa Monica’s Great Park! 🌳
When: Tuesday, July 8, 4:30 PM
Where: Steps of City Hall, 1685 Main St. (easy parking at the Civic Center Garage, 333 Civic Center Dr.)
Why come? Because the City Council is about to decide whether or not to place new development on the airport land. We want to achieve the LC-compliant Great Park (no ballot measure, no new development) we’ve all been dreaming of—and they need to see just how many of us care.
What’s happening at the rally?
- Inspiring local speakers
- Live music to keep the energy high
- Free pizza 🍕 and kids’ craft tables ✍️
- Face painting
- Plenty of friendly faces—bring friends, family, and neighbors!
After the rally:
- 5:10 PM: Those wishing to make public comments at 5:30PM must register at the kiosk in the City Hall lobby. Speakers will get just one minute.
- 5:30 PM: Youth speakers kick off public comments inside Council Chambers.
- Council slips into Closed Session for a bit and those wishing to make public comments at around 7PM will register at the kiosk in the City Hall lobby. Speakers will get just one minute.
- ≈ 7:00 PM: They’re back, and more public comments begin—stick around to cheer on the rest of our speakers and hear the discussion.
Bring/Wear: A refillable water bottle, wear your light blue GPC hats and t-shirts or something park-like (green!). Kids are encouraged to wear sports jerseys, Scouts uniforms, school T-shirts, or “flora and fauna” costumes, hats or headbands.
Get ready to make some joyful noise. A big, visible crowd right before public comments is our best shot at showing City Council that the community is all-in on a real Great Park.
